the story

of a journalist

Who I am

I’m Moriah Thomas and I am a journalist, a change maker, truth seeker and storyteller.

As a first-gen. college student, I studied international affairs, Russian, journalism and mass communication for seven years. What gets me up in the morning is knowing that I get to witness history and use my honed skills to bring the most important stories to the world.

In my free time I study Korean, Spanish and Chinese. Sometimes I wish I could download the world’s languages, history and cultural knowledge into my head like in The Matrix movies. But that wouldn’t be the same as experiences them, which is what a good journalist does.

I grew up in rural Georgia and worked my way through college. My nearly 10 years of experience in a variety of workplaces – retail, medical, food, corporate. I have built a firm foundation for when I start any story.

I am passionate about immersing myself in different cultures so that the stories I write help people understand the world in its many forms. I tell hard-hitting national and international stories through a local lens.
